The Dragonfly 36 has been named Cruising World's 2026 Boat of the Year, an honor that recognizes a performance cruising trimaran already proving itself far beyond the boat-show dock. For Windcraft Multihulls, the U.S. representative for Dragonfly Trimarans, the award validates the design, engineering, craftsmanship, and sailing experience that owners have been discovering on the water.
Approximately two dozen Dragonfly 36s are now sailing around the world. Five are already in the United States, with additional boats on the way or in production. That growing fleet gives sailors a meaningful body of real-world experience to consider alongside specifications and awards.
The miles are especially telling. One Dragonfly 36 in the United States has already logged nearly 7,000 nautical miles under her centerboard. Another crossed the Atlantic to New York and is preparing to continue south toward the Caribbean. These are not lightly used display boats; they are performance cruisers accumulating serious passages in the hands of active owners.
The Dragonfly 36 combines speed and responsiveness with the balance, comfort, and practical engineering required for cruising. Its appeal is difficult to capture in numbers alone.
