After decades of sailing and owning a variety of boats, Rob decided it was time to move from monohulls to a performance multihull. His new Corsair 760R was delivered by Windcraft Multihulls in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, where an on-water orientation on Lake Michigan quickly demonstrated what attracted him to the boat.
Rob followed the boat's journey before it ever reached Wisconsin. He tracked the cargo ship's AIS as the 760R traveled from Vietnam to Florida, then worked with Windcraft on delivery to Sturgeon Bay. That level of involvement reflects the value of a clear new-boat process, from ordering and shipping through commissioning, delivery, and owner training.
During orientation, the 760R showed both speed and responsiveness. Rob saw more than 11 knots while sailing upwind and even higher speeds off the wind. For an experienced sailor making the transition from a monohull, the session provided an immediate feel for multihull acceleration, sail trim, and the stable platform that distinguishes a modern Corsair trimaran.
Performance was only part of the decision. The 760R's trailerability and self-sufficiency were major attractions. Rob can store the boat indoors, handle much of his own off-season maintenance, raise the mast, and move the boat without depending on cranes, seasonal yard storage, winterization services, or a permanent slip. Those practical advantages make it possible to own a high-performance sailboat while retaining control over where and how it is stored.
Rob began by scheduling a showing with Windcraft. After seeing the 760R firsthand, he chose to order and added performance-oriented equipment, including a Colligo Extra Light Headstay Furling system and a screacher package with Colligo Extra Light Furling. The upgrades were selected to support the kind of responsive, versatile sailing he wanted.
