A productive demo sail should answer more than one question. During two days aboard a Corsair 880 on Lake Erie, Windcraft Multihulls was able to explore the boat across a useful range of conditions, sailing angles, tactics, and boat-handling situations. The result was not simply a fast ride, but a practical look at how the 880 fits into real ownership and everyday sailing.

The changing Lake Erie conditions gave the crew opportunities to compare sail choices and see how the boat responds as the wind and point of sail change. One of the central discussions was the tradeoff between the standard self-tacking jib and larger reaching sails. The self-tacking jib simplifies maneuvers and reduces workload, while a Code Zero or screacher can add power and speed when sailing at wider angles. Seeing these options in use helps a prospective owner decide which sail inventory best matches intended cruising and performance goals.

Boat handling continued after the sails came down. The group worked through tight-marina maneuvering and the practical details of keeping the boat folded. Those conversations matter because the Corsair 880's folding system can reduce docking and storage demands, but owners still benefit from learning the sequence, clearances, and habits that make the process routine. A demo that includes low-speed control and marina work provides a more complete picture than an open-water sail alone.

The visit also created time to discuss off-season planning, purchase and payment options, the buying process, and owner orientation. Trailerable trimaran ownership combines sailing performance with unusual flexibility, but that flexibility is most valuable when the owner understands storage, maintenance, transport, commissioning, and training before delivery. Working through those subjects on the boat connects each decision to the way the 880 will actually be used.

The Lake Erie sessions showed why an in-depth demo is so useful. Prospective owners experienced the Corsair 880's performance while also learning about sail selection, folded storage, marina maneuvering, and the steps that lead from an initial showing to confident ownership. Windcraft Multihulls can arrange demonstrations and training designed around a sailor's experience, location, and goals.
