Another great day of advanced multihull sail training is in the books here in Pensacola.
Michael, Mark, and Richard recently came aboard Windcraft Multihulls’ Corsair 970 for a focused training passage designed to deepen their understanding of apparent wind sailing, sail trim, and offshore multihull handling. The goal was not just to spend time on the water, but to build confidence, skill, and a more sophisticated feel for performance multihull sailing.
Across the board, the progress was clear.
Richard really found his stride at the helm, becoming more confident and comfortable with the boat’s speed, balance, and response. Mark was fully dialed into sail shape, trim, and mechanics, focusing on the details that make a major difference in multihull performance. Michael continued to sharpen his natural feel for apparent wind sailing and how to use that awareness across changing conditions and points of sail.
Training aboard a Corsair 970 offers a unique opportunity for sailors who want to better understand the speed and responsiveness of a performance cruising trimaran. Apparent wind sailing can feel very different from traditional monohull sailing, especially as boat speed increases and trim decisions become more dynamic. With the right instruction, sailors can quickly build confidence and begin to understand how to keep the boat balanced, efficient, and fun.
This training session also included deeper work with sail trim, spinnaker and screecher use, and handling across multiple points of sail. For sailors looking to expand their multihull skills, this type of hands-on experience is one of the best ways to gain comfort and control.
The group has already said they plan to return next year, with the goal of taking on a full circumnavigation aboard the Dragonfly 28 coming to Windcraft. That is exactly the kind of progression we love to see: sailors building skill, confidence, and excitement for the next adventure.
A huge thank you to Michael for the thoughtful review:
“My friends and I just completed three days of advanced multihull sail training on Tommy Clark’s Corsair 970. Tommy was a fantastic instructor—an experienced multihull racer and expert sailor. He’s a great teacher: calm, confident, and never judgmental. We came away with renewed confidence and a much deeper understanding of sail trim, including spinnaker and screecher use across all points of sail. Most of all, we had FUN. I couldn’t recommend his training course more highly!”
Windcraft Multihulls is proud to help sailors build confidence, improve their skills, and experience the full potential of performance multihull sailing. Whether you are new to trimarans, transitioning from monohulls, or looking to refine advanced sailing techniques, hands-on training can make the ownership and sailing experience more rewarding.
