No one in North America has a longer or deeper connection with Dragonfly trimarans than Carsten Steenberg.

Carsten’s involvement with Dragonfly dates back more than three decades. In 1990, Carsten and his wife Joanne established the first exclusive North American distribution for Dragonfly trimarans on behalf of Quorning Boats, introducing the innovative Danish folding trimarans to sailors across the United States and Canada. From 1990 to 1999, they worked closely with the shipyard to build the Dragonfly brand in North America through boat shows, owner support, demonstrations, and deliveries.

Since that time, the Steenberg family has remained deeply connected to the Dragonfly community and the Quorning Boats team in Denmark, helping introduce generations of sailors to these exceptional high-performance cruising trimarans.

Over the past 30+ years, Carsten has participated in countless Dragonfly demonstrations, owner deliveries, regattas, and major boat shows throughout the United States. His experience ranges from helping new owners understand the unique folding trimaran concept to assisting sailors transitioning from monohulls and multihulls into the Dragonfly lifestyle.

Through decades of collaboration, Carsten developed a close friendship with Dragonfly CEO Jens Quorning, and the Steenberg and Quorning families have maintained a strong relationship centered around their shared passion for Dragonfly trimarans. This connection has given Carsten a uniquely deep understanding of the boats, their design philosophy, and the heritage behind the brand.

Dragonfly sailing has truly become a family tradition. Carsten’s son, Nicholas Steenberg, further strengthened the family’s connection with the shipyard when he served as U.S. Manager of Sales & Service at Quorning Boats in Denmark, reinforcing the long-standing relationship between the two families and the Dragonfly organization.

Today, Carsten represents Dragonfly trimarans along much of the U.S. East Coast through Windcraft Multihulls, working closely with both new and experienced sailors to find the right boat and guide them through the entire ownership experience—from selecting the ideal model to delivery, commissioning, and sailing support.

In addition to his extensive Dragonfly expertise, Carsten brings a strong competitive sailing background. Originally from Denmark, he was a highly competitive Laser dinghy racer with several championship wins in both Europe and the United States, and later became a two-time U.S. national champion in a competitive keelboat class.
